In 2000, Dr Bhatti and Dr Usmani established Heaton Mersey Orthodontic Centre. Bilal is a member of the British Dental Association, British Orthodontic Society, American Association of Orthodontists, World Federation of Orthodontics, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Bilal graduated as a dentist from Sheffield University in 1991 and continued to work at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital as a house officer for six months. After a short spell in general dental practice and a six-month period of travelling, he spent two years as a senior house officer in oral and maxillofacial surgery at hospitals in Birmingham and Wexham Park.
In 1995, he was appointed as a senior house officer at Manchester Dental Hospital and gained valuable experience in oral surgery, oral medicine, restorative dentistry and children’s dentistry. During his time there, he gained his fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. After a further six months in general dental practice, he returned to a three-year postgraduate training programme in orthodontics at the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff. There he gained a Master of Science degree and the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2000.
Bilal is recognised as a specialist in orthodontics and is on the General Dental Council’s orthodontic specialist register. Bilal has a special interest in adult orthodontics, especially those that require interdisciplinary treatment to provide complete smile makeovers.
Bilal is active in continuing professional development, regularly attending postgraduate courses and has provided lectures to vocational general dental practitioners as part of their postgraduate training. He is certified in the use of Invisalign. He is passionate about orthodontics and creating beautiful smiles.
Bilal enjoys Kung Fu and is married with two young children.
