Here at Heaton Mersey orthodontic centre in Stockport, we carry out Invisalign braces treatment on a daily basis – transforming our patients’ lives with this teeth-straightening wonder. Ahead of Invisalign treatment here in Stockport, many of our patients don’t know what to expect, and some can even feel nervous – so we like to do our best to help everyone who comes to our practice feel settled and comfortable about what’s involved. Read on to find out a bit more about what this treatment involves – from how to get started, to how to maintain that perfect, finished smile.
Braces, such as Invisalign braces, require a careful assessment ahead of treatment. This is so our dental experts can be sure it’s the right choice for you. Invisalign braces can help with a number of dental problems such as a widely spaced or cramped smile, or bite problems such as overbite and underbite.
Providing you’re suitable and interested in the treatment, we’ll then look to creating a treatment plan for you. This involves creating special clear braces, called aligners, that fit over your teeth and gently move them into alignment. You’ll actually change these clear brace aligners every few weeks, as the adjustments are so subtle and gentle. Part of the process also includes showing you a digital impression of your smile – detailing the changes along the way, and the fantastic results you’ll have at the end of your treatment.
Invisalign aligners are renowned for their comfort, as they provide such gentle and incremental treatment, and their discreet design. In fact, they’re often called ‘invisible braces’. They make a good choice for teens as well as adults, particularly because teenagers can feel more self-conscious about their smile than adults.
As well as changing your aligners every few weeks, you’ll also have regular appointments at our Stockport dental practice to ensure your clear brace treatment is going as planned. And, if you have questions or concerns during the process, you’ll have the reassurance that we’re looking after you throughout treatment. Finally, there’s also an app you can download to help monitor your progress.
Once you’ve had invisible brace treatment with Invisalign, you’ll want to keep your teeth in their new positions. That’s where retainers come in. Again custom-made to your smile, these only need to be worn at night and will help ensure your teeth don’t move around in the future. Again, retainers are a type of invisible brace.
